Questions
No. Istaqer doesn’t take bookings, deposits or any money. You see the place yourself; the deal and the payment are between you and the owner or broker. If anyone contacts you in Istaqer’s name asking for a transfer, it’s a scam.
No, we don’t inspect places. Every listing says who posted it (the owner, a current tenant or a broker) and when they said it was free. That’s why seeing it yourself is the only guarantee, and the checklist here helps.
From the listing page you contact the advertiser directly, by phone or WhatsApp. Your number doesn’t go through us and isn’t published. You can bring family to the viewing. If a broker asks for commission, that’s agreed with them, not with us.
From the listings. “Typical” means close to the average for the same kind of place (bed or room, women’s or men’s) in the same area. If it’s clearly higher or lower, we say so.
To the nearest gate of the main campus in Abbasia, at 8 AM. Walking follows real OpenStreetMap routes at 4.8 km/h; metro includes the walk to the station and the wait. Medicine students are best off in Demerdash, Engineering (El-Sarayat) students in Abbasia, and Girls' College or Education students in Heliopolis or Kobri El-Qobba; Agriculture is out in Shubra El-Kheima by Kolleyet El-Zeraa station on Line 2.
Right after the admission results (tansik) in August and September, or after your acceptance letter if you are coming from outside Egypt. Places near the gate go first, so start early, and see a place before you pay anything.
If you qualify (rules differ for students from abroad), they’re usually the cheapest option. But places are limited and applications have deadlines, so apply early and keep a plan B.
Is there a supervisor? What’s the return time? Who may visit? You can bring family to the viewing. Each card shows these when the advertiser has told us.
